WHITE WHALE RECORDS: AUG.3rd '06

It's way too nice in Vancouver to concentrate! It's also the calm before the storm at the whale with lots in the works for the fall and new year. Here's a bit of what's to come. CASTLE PROJECT:

Castle is playing tonight at Richard's on Richard's in Vancouver. It's an early show and they're scheduled to start at 9:15. The next Castle show will also be at Richards opening for Memphis (members of Arts and Crafts' Stars) on Aug.24th.

Check out XM Satellite Radio, Channel 52 this Friday, Aug.4th (9pm EST) to hear Castle Project’s exclusive in studio performance and interview for Live at the Verge! Castle rocks a number of new tunes acoustic! Also featured will be Elliot Brood. It will be aired again on August 6th (9am EST) and August 8th (Noon EST).

Castle is just finishing the mixing on their second record "The Crash Was So Unkind" with Howard Redekopp and working on their 3 week US / CAN tour from OCT.20th - NOV.11th. stay tuned for details.

There are also some new Castle pictures on the White Whale site. We will be uploading more soon so check back!

Diaries of a Broken Heart will be released in the US on OCT.24th.

THE MOHAWK LODGE:

The Mohawk Lodge is playing this Friday, Aug.4th @ the Railway Club in Vancouver w/ Precious Fathers and Yukon! Lots of tracks from the new record!

"Bloodlines", the Lodge's second record will be mastered in 2 weeks. It was started at Darryl Neudorf's studio in Toronto, then transported out to Vancouver where tracks were layed at the Hive and at a cabin in Pt.Roberts with Hivers Jordan, Colin and Jesse. Finally, it was hauled back to Toronto for mixing. It features lots of friends including new whale members Arch (Readymade), Ben Labelle, and Samir Mallal (The Marato). Lots of guest appearances too incuding Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade), and Jesse Gander on keys and JP on trumpet. It's quite a departure from Rare Birds... you will dig it! Tracks will be streaming as soon as we get the master back. In the meantime, we've thrown up a couple different tracks on myspace from Rare Birds.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows at NXNE, and in Montreal and Seattle in June! The Mohawk Lodge will be back on the road once the new record is ready.

PRECIOUS FATHERS:

Precious Fathers is playing this Friday, Aug.4th @ the Railway Club in Vancouver w/ The Mohawk Lodge and Yukon. They too have new tracks from a new record! The Fathers start recording this month!

Precious Fathers recorded a CBC Radio 3 In Session and that should be up in the next month. Tim Loewen returned last month from the Destroyer tour across the states and a show in the UK. Destroyer's Rubies is awesome and Tim plays the bass.

Precious Fathers will be released in the US on OCT.24th!

OCTOBERMAN:

Marc is at Hipposonic Studios this week with co-producer/engineer James Henderson mixing the second Octoberman album, titled "Running From Safety". It is much more layered and energetic this time around and on top of the live oct version of Marc/Rob/Graham/Pete, it features many of our favourite Vancouver musicians including L Abramson (harmonies), Shaun Brodie (trumpet), Kris Hooper (lapsteel), Jason Starnes (organ), Brian Chan (cello) and last but not least the Octoberchoir (Mike Morrissette, Ryder Havdale, C.L. McLaughlin, and more)!

Also in the works is a Fall European release of "These Trails" to coincide with a solo tour of the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Italy.
