Toronto’s TUSKS self-titled EP is out… NOW! The band features many members of many well respected Canadian bands, including Kepler, Wooden Stars, and Sea Snakes. TUSKS’ 6 song EP is a noticeable departure for all involved. Each member’s constituent parts are like mini-orchestras, but together they present as a whole, either in the form of wild, raucous numbers like “Baby Noise” and “The Grieving Game” or soulful, harmony-dreched mini-epics like “Mothers vs. Sons” and “Calling on all Theives”. Tusks debut EP was recorded by Jeff McMurrich (Constantines, Hidden Cameras, Sandro Perri, Sea Snakes.)

Already, the EP has been getting some love:

“Selfishly, I’ve been holding onto this EP as one to drop on my year-end list that had been undiscovered by the ever increasing number of blogs, but now it seems they are about to blow up… This is a must-have.”

“Melodic rock” sure doesn’t sound very enticing but Tusks deserve to be the ones who give it some fresh meaning… they bring such precise riffage and ultra-tight arrangements that they are filled to the gills with unpretentious melodies.”

“It makes for a fun listen, and it suggests that White Whale might just be home to the best bands in Canada not enough people are talking about.”

“It’s mature, smart pop music, and as fresh as a debut should sound.” Echo Weekly
