Eamon McGrath’s upcoming White Whale Records album Young Canadians will be performed live, from start to finish, at Toronto’s Bovine Sex Club (Bovine Sex Club 542 Queen St W) on February 18th. This show will be the only place to hear the as-yet-unreleased record in its entirety, note-for-note, with McGrath’s full band ready to bash out a set of soon-to-be anthems, straight off the mastering console and ready to rear their heads for a live crowd.

With some songs already crowd favourites, especially the Exclaim!TV hit “Rabid Dog” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C_47PNjNRM), and others still yet to see the light of the stage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3unLl_APnYg), the Bovine set is going to be a cross-examination of all the styles that are going to make up this highly anticipated release, ranging from psychedelic folk, to Bakersfield-style country, to mid-90s pacific northwest guitar workouts; all with the gnashing teeth and punk intensity McGrath is known for.

“Prolific songwriter and musician Eamon McGrath is originally from Edmonton, but has since relocated to Toronto, which means we were lucky enough to catch him performing at the inaugural Bloor Ossington Folk Festival last month.

Backed by a band at the Theatre of Human Health, McGrath delivered a loud, punk-infused performance of “Machine Gun Cowboy,” which you can watch above this post.”

The debut Bloor Ossington Folk Fest was a massive success this past weekend. 45 bands, all free, all parties. From Cancer Bats to Julie Doiron it was awesome!
